University Television Station produced the first all-female sports broadcast in the history of St. Cloud State University on February 7th, 2020. Director and UTVS Station Manager Paige Jaeger provides insight on this historic event below.

It all started with a dream and an idea. UTVS Members Paige Jaeger and Maya Brown put their creative hats on and began to plan for a first of its kind broadcast. Their idea? To create Saint Cloud State's first ever sports broadcast produced entirely by women.

On February 7th, 2020, their dream became a reality when UTVS broadcasted both Women's and Men's basketball games with a crew made entirely of women. This date was also the following weekend of National Girls and Women in Sports day. The crew consisted of 26 members, ranging from freshman to seniors, and camera operators to on-air talent.
After the final buzzer sounded, the crew knew that they had created UTVS and SCSU history. The broadcast has implemented a lasting legacy for all those involved as well as the Saint Cloud State community. UTVS plans to continue doing full female sports broadcasts for as long as possible.

UTVS believes that doing these broadcasts will help pave the way and encourage more women to enter the sports industry. "The world is changing.
