History

UTVS or University Television Station began operations in 1978. Today, the station continues to provide programing to over 33,000 households in the St. Cloud, MN and surrounding areas via Charter Channel 21. In 2013, UTVS transitioned from standard definition to high definition to provide a better education experience for our students and a better product to our audience.

UTVS is home to UTVS News, a news production that airs sixteen times a week including a weekly Spanish broadcast. Our next biggest production is Husky Productions, a student-run hockey production that broadcasts SCSU DI hockey games out of the university’s hockey arena, Herb Brooks National Hockey Center.
